Belle at Abundance Journal chose me to join in a wonderful game of tag. The game is all about raising our vibrations and has some pretty extensive directions, which is one of the reasons why it’s taken me so long to get this post completed (the other being life’s daily responsibilities
).
I’m so glad Belle tagged me, though, because just thinking of the ways I raise my vibe raises my vibe!

As I considered my favorite ways to raise my vibration, I realized that they all had one thing in common: I was focusing on one of my physical senses in order to feel better emotionally.
Without further ado, here is my list of how I use my senses to raise my vibe, in no particular order:
Sight
- Watching my children - completely focusing on them - whether they’re playing together well (which really makes me happy), dancing, purposely being funny (which they all do a lot), or just sleeping.
- Looking at beautiful photographs, particularly of nature and scenery (and my family). Sunsets, flowers, rainbows (this is starting to sound sappy), cob houses sounded by green pasture (my dream house), fruit. I’ve always loved photography and appreciate really well done photographs. If I’m trying to find a photo for a blog post on Flickr, I can really get off track just looking at the amazing work of some of the contributors. As a side note, the picture above is the wallpaper on my cell phone - a picture I took with my cell phone camera of a poster of fruit.
Sound
- Listening to the sounds of nature is important to me. If weather permits, I try to open my windows first thing in the morning so that I can listen to the birds singing. This morning I got to listen to a thunderstorm and as soon as it was over, the birds were singing again. Ahhhhh - vibe raised (which was necessary, because I’d just been in an argument with my husband).
- I enjoy all styles of music, but if it’s got a good beat and I can dance to it  it’ll automatically help me feel better.
- I especially love to hear my kids laughing! Hearing laughter - real, honest, unchecked laughter - even if I don’t know who is doing the laughing, puts me in a better mood.
Smell
- A whiff of real lemon (including essential oils) will always raise my vibe! So will the scent of any citrus fruit, but lemon is the best for this.
- 4711
- I’m a little embarrassed to say, but the smell of garlic also raises my vibe. Especially garlic that’s in the sautée pan. It reminds me of good times growing up.
Taste
- Related to the last point… I also love the taste of garlic. But eating anything that is well made (to my liking, of course) will raise my vibe. Especially if I made it myself, because then I’m proud of my cooking. But it’s not necessary that it be home made. In fact, if it’s part of a relaxing time out with good conversation, it’ll raise my vibe that much more.
- Chocolate. Dark chocolate to be specific. Chimp mints (which cost about .30 cents each at my local health food store) to be even more specific.
- A good brie or camembert for breakfast, especially if accompanied by a good cup of tea. Particularly Jasmine Yin-Hao for the tea and ColoRouge for the cheese.
Touch
Since beginning this post, I’ve realized that there really isn’t a way I use touch to raise my vibes. I enjoy holding my kids and petting soft animals and feeling luxurious fabrics (not to mention physically intimacy), but none of these raises my vibrations.
Exercise doesn’t do it for me. Taking walks does, but it’s mostly about being in nature and watching my kids explore the world. I also really enjoy roughhousing (gently) with the kids on my bed, but this is about watching them play and hearing them laugh - see my comments under Sight and Sound.
Extra Sensory
There are things that go beyond the senses that I use to raise my vibes, and the only way I can think to categorize them is “extra sensory” or beyond the senses.
- Gratitude - every night as I fall asleep, I try to count my blessings. I include anything that happened during that day that made me feel good in any way, as well as for things that make me happy in general. I sleep so much better when I do this than when I forget.
- Reading spiritually centered books and listening to spiritually centered radio shows. I try to listen to HayHouse Radio every day, but will not listen to a show that’s a “downer” unless I’m feeling completely capable of keeping my vibe up. I include meditating here, because I do it best when I’m guided on a CD or MP3.
- Being creative. This is more than physically creating things with my hands. It can be creating something beautiful like jewelry or other handcrafts, or something functional like soap or a homemade heating pack. It also includes writing. And more than the process of creation process, knowing that somebody else honestly enjoys what I create - that they get something from it - really works to raise my vibe.
Well, I’m feeling pretty good having gone through and compiled this list, and now I’ll pass that on to some others. I hope that the following bloggers participate in the game, because I truly would like to know what they do to raise their vibes:
Vicki at Contemplate This - I high vibed her article about EFT and the Emotional Scale
I know that Aaron at Today Is That Day doesn’t have a lot of time for playing games, but I thought he might enjoy this one, and that it fits in with his site. I high vibed his article about The Top 3 Law Of Attraction Secrets - Especially For Non Believers
Wendy of eMoms At Home hasn’t written any Law of Attraction or personal growth posts lately, but I’d love to see how she’d relate this topic to business. I’ve high vibed her post titled How To Leverage Positive Thinking Into Blog Traffic Surges
I think I need to find more LoA sites to read… I’m off to High Vibe It to find some.
